Commissioned by the AEA, the survey collected responses from nearly 20,000 auto show attendees across 27 events during the 2024–2025 season. Our team at P+ Insights handled the data collection and analysis, ensuring the voice of the consumer was captured clearly and accurately.

Here’s what the data tells us:

• 78% of attendees said the auto show influenced their purchase decision
• 80% of those planning to buy within 3 months said the show was a key factor in that decision
• 50% of all attendees changed their vehicle consideration list after the show
• 25% ranked auto shows as more influential than any other medium
• And 90% noticed when a brand was missing—a major reminder that absence can mean missed opportunity

“Auto shows are one of the most powerful tools in the car-buying journey,” said AEA Chairman Kevin Mazzucola. “With 80% of near-term buyers saying the show influenced their purchase, the data makes it clear that auto shows don’t just showcase vehicles—they drive real consumer action.”

With 85% of car purchases influenced or made by women, it’s a staggering truth that the auto industry still often overlooks its most powerful consumer. Scotty’s passion lies in changing that narrative—one informed buyer at a time.

“Women are dreaming about $10,000 bathroom renovations, but signing $50,000 car notes without being engaged in the process. That’s heartbreaking,” Scotty shared.

Her message is clear: Women deserve to feel confident, informed, and empowered in car-buying decisions. It’s not just about vehicles—it’s about financial power, lifestyle alignment, and career opportunity. Scotty points out that the automotive industry isn’t just for gearheads; it needs marketing minds, creatives, engineers, and savvy communicators. And yes, it needs more women.

As Hedy and Scotty dove into industry insights, Scotty highlighted female leaders shaking things up: Lisa Materazzo (Toyota and now Ford), Melissa Grady (Cadillac), and Allison Witherspoon (Nissan) are among the executives driving impactful change and bringing fresh vision to brand communication and innovation.

So who’s doing it right when it comes to speaking to women? Scotty called out Genesis and Volkswagen for campaigns that lean into lifestyle and heritage, creating genuine, emotional connections. On the flip side, she noted that overemphasis on dealership deals and small print often alienates female consumers looking for more than just a transaction.

And what about auto shows? As a longtime industry insider, Scotty gave a big shoutout to Product Specialists—those polished professionals (often placed by agencies like ours) who help bridge the gap between consumer curiosity and product knowledge. They’re crucial to elevating the customer experience, especially for women who want to explore vehicles without pressure. From Veronica Beard to Denise Focil’s AS by DF, fashion-forward styling helps align the Product Specialist’s look with the brand’s identity, creating a more immersive and aspirational experience for the consumer.

Last quarter I had the privilege of attending an awards ceremony in NYC where a leader spoke about the role women leaders play in influencing and mentoring other women. Her quote was simply, “you have to SEE it to BE it.”

That statement really resonated with me. At Productions Plus, I believe we have SEEN we can be anything we want to BE. Our CEO, Margery Krevsky, founded this company because she had a vision of what women could achieve. She saw that models could be more than just their looks for brand messaging. Over 20 years later our employees still see her in the office being actively involved in her company at a time in life that most would check out. We SEE clients who are living and breathing great work. We are small enough as an organization that we can approach our leaders every day. My team has access to our CFO, VP and Executive Director team every day. Margery has created a company that allows us to SEE a job we want and go for it! We have success modeled for us every day.

This year I will be thinking of Congress, of Margery, my own working mother and of all the women in my life who helped pave the way to my becoming President of Productions Plus. I plan to be mindful of the role I play in other women’s lives and how each of us has the capability to inspire daily. Let’s all challenge each other this year to educate, empower and mentor those who have and will come after us. Male AND female. Let’s have a prosperous year while positioning 2020 to smash even more records.

This letter is for all the amazing Detroit and nationwide actors, with whom I’ve had the honor to represent over the past nine years.

I want to inform you that I have decided to retire from my job as a talent agent, in acceptance of a new career path. But before I go, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the amazing talent you all have exhibited in the countless projects I have submitted you for. Your dedication, talent and perseverance has made me so proud to represent you. I am in awe of the talent in this community! I am so grateful for getting to know many of you and have enjoyed watching your careers and families grow. You will all be truly missed.

I’m heading to Telluride to see my three sons, then returning home to wind down my position here at the end of June. I’m pleased to announce that renowned Detroit actor / director Suzi Regan will be taking over my position and will be joining the powerhouse team here lead by Olga Denysenko, our wonderful print agent Marsha Bassi and our amazing assistant Neil Willoughby. With the addition of Suzi’s industry connections and energy in the office, I’m very excited for this next stage of P+ Detroit.

Again, thank you for the honor of representing you. I’ll always be rooting for you and I look forward to seeing your future bookings!
